Every businessman in dairy farming wants more milk production given the resources available to them. Your choice of breed when starting a dairy farm is important in this situation. Despite having a lifespan of 20 to 25 years, Jersey cows begin to produce less milk after 30 months.

There are currently more than 980 million cattle in existence worldwide. With more than 300 million Jersey Cow, India ranks first in the world. This ensures that the demand for Jersey cow’s milk in the market is high and is not going to come down anytime soon.

Keeping this in mind, dairy farmers who are looking to produce and sell more milk should buy a Jersey cow since it is known for its high milk production. Let us now learn how much milk Jersey cows produce.

Daily Milk Production of Jersey Cows:

In contrast to other breeds of cattle, Jersey cows produce the majority of their milk during lactation. During lactation, they produce 20 to 30 liters of milk each day.

Some people claim that they own Jersey cows that give 35 to 45 liters of milk daily. However, based on average data, Jersey cows produce twice as much milk each day as regular cows.

The productivity of the cows and their repellant immunity to sickness determine which Jersey cows are the best. A Jersey cow is a wonderful breed to have for the dairy farming industry if she produces milk 290 days out of the year.

How Much Profit Can You Make Selling Jersey Cow’s Milk?

Most of the milk consumed in India, which accounts for more than 20% of world milk production, is from Jersey cows. This milk contains more important nutrients than other regular cow milk.

Jersey cow milk costs between Rs 40 to Rs 80 per kg. If the Jersey cow produces an average of 30 liters of milk every day and sells for Rs 70 per liter on average, then the daily earnings of the milkman will be Rs 2,100. Multiply that amount by 30 and the monthly income of the milkman will be Rs 63,300.

Jersey Cow Price in India:

The Jersey cow is more expensive than other desi cows like the Gir and Sahiwal because it is not an Indian breed. It is tough to find a high-milking Jersey cow in the local markets. Despite being of average quality, Jersey cows attract high prices.

The cost of a young Jersey cow calf is close to 50,000 INR. However, a mature milk-producing Jersey cow costs between 75,000 and 100,000 INR (transportation cost is not included).

Where to Buy Jersey Cows in India?

In contrast to other common dairy farming cows, Jersey cows are more expensive. They aren't directly sold in the marketplace.

If a Jersey cow is sold in the local market, it is likely that she is either old or not producing enough milk. Nearly every type of dairy production animal is seen at animal festivals, however, HF cows and Jerseys cows are difficult to find. When they are older or less productive, people sell them.

Direct purchase from the owner, who only has two or three Jersey cows, is the most genuine way to buy Jersey cows. It goes without saying that people hold on to the best. Because of their higher quality and productivity, it is, therefore, preferable to purchase these people's Jersey animals even if they are slightly more expensive.

You will gain higher income if you find such owners in your area and buy such Jersey animals one at a time than if you simply purchase Jersey cows.
