Here’s the success story of a farmer who exported millets worth Rs 38 lakh

Dilpreet Singh started sowing millets such as ragi and kodo on his 8-acre farm in 2019, which he later extended to 14 acres.

How He Began

Seeing his efforts strolling down, he realized there was very little demand for millets in India.

His Failures

He then thought of catering to consumers outside India, which led him to earn Rs 38 lakh this month through exports of millets to Australia.

Road To Success

For the millet seeds to not germinate on the foreign soil, he established a system to deactivate the seeds.

Innovation

To make millet consumption easy, Singh launched ready-to-cook millets under the brand ‘Healthy Soil, Food & People’.

Ready To Cook Millets

Food grains like rice and wheat require more water than millets. Hence, Singh realized growing millets could be a solution to the water shortage problem in the state.

Now, Singh is aiming to achieve sales of Rs 75-80 lakh in the financial year 2024-25 by expanding his exports to Canada.
