Not only people but plants also suffer in the hot summer heat. It's the most difficult time of the year for gardeners to keep their plants healthy and green. Watering alone isn't always enough to keep them healthy.
Moving them to a shaded location or ensuring that the roots and leaves receive consistent hydration are two options for helping them withstand the heat. Making cold compost is another simple but effective way to keep your plants from drying out. Summer is the best time to apply liquid fertilizers.
Here are two amazing liquid fertilizers to use during summer to prevent your plants from drying out due to the scorching sun.
Peels from fruits and vegetables
The skins of practically all vegetables and fruits provide a variety of nutrients, but they must be chosen according to the season.
We toss away a lot of cantaloupe or melon peels during the summer, for example. Potassium, phosphorus, calcium, carbohydrates, and many other micronutrients are found in these peels. Onion peels, on the other hand, can be used to make nice compost.
-
Place the peels in a jar with a lid.
-
Fill it up with water until the peels are completely submerged.
-
Keep the mixture covered for a few days.
-
Open the top once a day and thoroughly mix the liquid.
-
Within 3-4 days, the fertilizer liquid will be ready.
-
Re-mix it with water and feed it to each plant separately.
Cow Dung Manure
-
Fill a bucket with 5-7 liters of water.
-
Fill the water with fresh cow manure.
-
Cover it with a lid after completely soaking it in water.
-
Keep the mixture in for three days.
-
The mixture is ready to use and can be poured directly beneath the plants.
Make sure the manure isn't dumped directly into the soil. Mixing it with water is essential. Additionally, avoid using eggshells as plant manure during the summer.
