Know how Hi-tech farming can be useful for farmers

Implementation of high-tech farming in other states has proven that the production of high-tech farming can increase production by 3 to 10 times. Implementation of high-tech farming in other states has proven that the production of high-tech farming can increase production by 3 to 10 times. So many people are choosing high-tech farming now, with little investment in agriculture. Through the synthesis of micro-irrigation, soilless farming, fertilization, protected agriculture, (greenhouse/polytunnel / shady net) micro-breeding hybrid seed use and plastic sheeting.

The method of farming

When planting fertilizer, each plant needs to be considered separately in high-tech farming. It means taking into consideration the soil fertility and plant condition and exploiting the natural resources to produce better yields.

What varieties can be cultivated?

Many horticultural crops in Kerala, especially vegetable crops, are suitable for high-tech farming. Proper quantity of fertilizers and proper size of irrigated crop produce high productivity.

You can get acquainted with various high-tech methods.

  1. Protective method

Protected vegetation mainly consists of a framework, a cover used for grazing and a system for controlling the vegetation environment. The vegetation can be divided into three categories based on the type of material used.

Greenhouses (greenhouses): The roof and sides are covered with plastic sheets.

Glass Houses: Glass, polycarbonate and fibreglass can be enveloped.

Polyhouse: A polyethene sheet covered with sterilizers.

  1. Precision Farming

Precision farming is a system of farming that provides the plants with the right amount of water and nutrients needed for the growth in a timely manner. This type of farming system uses drip irrigation and fertilization system and can be done in polyhouses and outdoor areas.

High-tech farming and advantages

Hi-tech farming aims to provide productive water, fertilizer and control agents at the right time and in real-time. This will save you up to Rs. 3 lakh per annum from a 1000 sq m poly house.

Experience has shown that high-tech farming can increase productivity and quality of produce, and that valuable crops such as capsicum, jerkins, salad cucumbers, strawberries, cherry tomatoes, and common vegetables in our country can be grown.

The shape, size and quality of products produced in the controlled environment in greenhouses are similar in value, thus increasing export value and thus earning more foreign currency.

In the case of high-cost fertilizer, high-tech farming can reduce the loss of the elements and reduce the cost of production by utilizing them accurately in high-tech farming.

Greenhouse farming allows the use of carbon dioxide within the greenhouse, thus optimizing crop yields and increase productivity. Successful implementation of hi-tech agriculture is done in the Gulf, Arabian countries and Israel, which are not suitable for agriculture.

In Kerala, where labour shortages and wages are high, high-tech farming can solve these problems and reduce costs by 50 to 75 per cent. In high-tech farming, job efficiency is 80 to 90 per cent higher.

With six months of rainfall per year, vegetable cultivation in our country is mainly done in summer. However, cultivating greenhouses allows you to grow vegetables and flowers year-round. Disease control is fully achieved by protecting crops and thereby reducing crop losses.

High-tech farming makes it possible for Keralites to produce toxic-free vegetables and fruits at all times. It is something that must be taken care of with dedication. Increasing production and better returns alone will not bring about the cost of building a polyhouse. Success in high-tech farming can only be achieved with precision at every stage of polyhouse construction, planting and seed selection, crop management, atmospheric arrangement, fertilizer application and harvesting.

High-tech farming requires a high level of investment and relies very little on the environment of modern technology. These technologies focus on improving the productivity of crops and producing quality products.
