The careful and economical use of water is defined as the conservation of water. We should conserve water as it is a precious natural resource. There are many ways to conserve water. One of them is Afforestation.

Afforestation can help water to penetrate into the soil and replenish the water table. It can be done in the following ways:

  • Use of efficient watering systems such as drip irrigation and sprinklers to reduce water consumption by plants and help in the conservation of water.

  • Building Dams and hydropower projects which help in checking flood and regulating the supply of water to agriculture.

  • Irrigation hours and frequency can be reduced.

  • Industrial and domestic wastewater treatment in sewage plants before its disposal in water bodies help in conservation of water. It reduces water pollution.

Rainwater Harvesting

The rainwater is collected by allowing it to flow from the rooftop through pipes in a storage tank. This water may contain some soil particles from the roof. So it should be filtered before use. It is allowed to flow into a pit in the ground to recharge or refill the groundwater. Besides these, we should take the following steps for avoiding wastage of water at home:

  • While taking water for drinking, we should take only just enough to quench our thirst.

  • Economical use of water while taking a bath or washing clothes is necessary.

  • The tap should be turned off immediately after the water is used.

The careful use and preservation of water supply towards water conservation is the need of the hour. Quantity and quality of water utilized must be kept in mind. For the nourishment, water is an essential asset for life. The fundamental demand for all activities appropriates from local users to the agricultural industry.

As the population is increasing, the human consumption of water has also increased. There has been a serious tension on water resources. Negligence of customary water bodies like tanks and lakes, unpredictable and abuse of groundwater, and incorrect preservation of surface water systems have contributed to the issue. The simple strategy to cut your water bill is to use your water twice. Water can be reused over again and again, just like electricity. That’s the idea of water conservation.

Key facts about water:

  • The average adult human body is composed of 50-65 percent of water. Averaging around 57-60 percent. With infants, they have a higher percentage. Often around 75-78 percent of water dropping to 65 percent by one year of age.

  • Earth is having a limited amount of water. It is the water that we have now is all we get. It is recycled over and over. The cycle of water can help you understand this condition.

  • For every food, water is the basic demand. It grows our fruits and vegetable and it is consumed by each livestock.

  • In nature, Plants are also dependent on water. The ecosystem and produce oxygen that is necessary to keep plants healthy.  In nature, the trees are generally used for housing, paper, and a lot more.

The essential practice in every part of the world is water conservation, even in regions where water appears to be enough.  So what is the most practical and environment-friendly approach to lessen our need for water? Utilizing less water likewise puts less weight on our sewage treatment facilities which use an ample amount of energy for heating water.

The extraction of fresh water from icebergs has expanded by three folds in the past 50 yearsIt is due to the progression in the way of life a more significant amount of water is a need. Accordingly, it implies a growth in the interest for the power supply so with water.

Hence, the life of the septic system is longer due to the conservation of water.  This is by lessening soil immersion and reducing any contamination because of leaks. The municipal sewer systems can also make untreated sewage flow to lakes and rivers overloaded. It depends on the volume and the amount of water coursing through these systems, the lower the probability of contamination.  The society domestic water preservation avoided the expensive sewage system development.

The valuable resources and water is one of them and is our basic need are fulfilled by nature. Water is the requirement of all living beings for their survival and to carry out their survival and to carry out their vital life processes. The Earth has three –fourths of its surface area covered with water and only one- fourth has land masses. Life originates in water. At present and the millions of year later, water continues to be an essential requirement of life. Around 97 percent of water is found in oceans and seas. The remaining, about 3 percent is found in rivers, lakes, ponds, streams, etc. Air also contains water.
