Varsha Joshi (IAS 1995-Batch AGMUT cadre) has been appointed as the Chairperson of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) with effect from 1st December 2020. As per sources, Dilip Rath, whose tenure as chairman of NDDB ended on 30thNov 2020, was denied further extension. His tenure ended under a cloud & he was not even extended the courtesy of handing over the charge to his successor before leaving office.
Rath, who was previously serving as managing director (MD) of NDDB and later had held the additional charge of the post of chairman since August 1, 2016, had assumed the chairman’s post for the first term on December 1, 2016.
The NDDB’s chairmanship up to 2014 was only held by dairy professional’s but however, in the past six years, the government has shown restraint and has named only top administrators from the state on the top post at NDDB.
