UP Govt. To Provide 15,000 Solar Pumps Under PM Kisan Urja Suraksha and Utthan Mahabhiyan Yojana; Details Inside!

On Thursday, the Yogi Government announced that it would install new 15,000 solar pumps in the state to provide free irrigation to farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha and Utthan Mahabhiyan Yojana, in its first paperless financial budget of the second term for the financial year 2022-23.

Farmers would be able to access free irrigation through 34,307 government tube wells and 252 small branch canals, according to the budget. Furthermore, the State Government would receive Rs 423 crore from NABARD to construct 2100 new state tube wells, while Rs 150 crore has been suggested for the modernization of 6600 state tube wells and Rs 130 crore for the restoration of 569 defunct state tube wells.

In the budget, the Yogi government has placed a special emphasis on flood mitigation, proposing Rs 2751 crore for the purpose. Repairing faulty tube wells has also been budgeted for by the government.

Govt Proposes Rs 356 Crore For Building And Uplifting Embankments:

The Yogi government is preparing to speed up the construction, uplifting, and reinforcement of embankments in advance of the rainy season, and has budgeted Rs 356 crore for the purpose. The government has also proposed a budget of Rs 1328 crore for river restoration and soil erosion control. In addition, Rs 144 crore has been set for water outlets. Meanwhile, it is intended to spend Rs 800 crore on providing free irrigation water to farmers via canals and government tube wells.

Three Canal Projects Have Been Given Budgetary Support:

The state government has also set aside funds for canal construction, proposing Rs 600 crore for the Madhya Ganga Canal Project, Rs 310 crore for the Saryu Canal Project, and Rs 20 crore for the Arjun Sahayak Project.
