Hon'ble Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Narendra Tomar inaugurated the State Agriculture and Horticulture Ministers Meeting along with Minister of State, Kailash Choudhary, Shobha Karandlaje, and many other eminent dignitaries in Bengaluru today.
The two-day conference will deliberate on the adoption of modern as well as sustainable farming practices and mechanisms for increasing production & productivity in India.
The welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi, Additional Secretary at DA&FW followed by Arti Ahuja, Secretary, Fertilizer who talked about the key issues faced by the industry.
Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & DG, ICAR also attended and addressed the participants today.
Agriculture Minister Tomar launched Platforms of Platform under e-NAM. He said Platform of Platforms (PoPs) will facilitate farmers to sell their products beyond their state boundaries.
He transferred a matching equity grant of INR 37,49,86000 to 1,018 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs)
Tomar requested all the states and officials to share their suggestions to formulate better policies for effective implementation.
Basavaraj Bommai, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka shared his views on the efforts made by Government of Karnataka in increasing crop production and enhancing the income of farmers for their empowerment. Bommai, said that the integration of traditional and modern agriculture would help to safeguard the soil and sustain agri production.
Sanjiv Kumar, Addl. Secretary & Financial Advisor, DA&FW made a presentation on 'Awareness Programme on Fund Release through PFMS' in Technical Session while Ritesh Chauhan, Joint Secretary, made a presentation on PMFBY during the conference.
