Honouring Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao’s announcement made during the last assembly session, to increase the financial assistance given to farming community under the Rythu Bandhu scheme, the Telangana state government on 1st June 2019 issued orders raising the amount from previous Rs 4000 - Rs 5000. The Government also created a State level monitoring committee to manage the implementation of the Agriculture Investment Support Scheme, (Rythu Bandhu) that won accolades from global agencies, including the Food & Agriculture Organisation (FAO).
Telangana CM’s pet scheme - Rythu Bandu is aimed at offering income support to the agriculturists directly to back their crops.
The improved amount of Rs 5,000 / acre per farmer every season will be paid to all pattadars as well as RoFR (Recognition of Forest Rights) title holders via the RBI’s payment platform ‘e-Kuber’. These bills would be processed via DTO of Ranga Reddy district as the office is well familiar with the procedures as it handled the payments during Rabi 2018-19.
The Telangana government is proposing to expand the Rythu Bandhu scheme for all the pattadars during the Kharif as well as Rabi seasons as per the digitally signed data obtained from the CCLA, before every season as done last year.
The scheme that provides Initial Investment support to the agriculture & horticulture crops through a grant of Rs 4000 / acre per cultivator each season towards purchase of inputs like pesticides, seeds, fertilisers, labour & other filed operations, has now been increased to Rs 5000 / acre per farmer every season.
All the RoFR beneficiaries will be identified by the district collectors after consulting with the forest department according to the rules issued by the Tribal Welfare department. The data regarding the RoFR patta holders will be taken from the Commissioner of Tribal Welfare prior to every season.
In addition, the government has also increased the time frame for resubmission of ‘failure’ cases from 3 months to 6 months taking into account the huge number of beneficiaries covered under the scheme.
