GRI, a tyre manufacturer based in Sri Lanka, has introduced its new Green XLR Earth Series of radial agricultural tyres. It is billed as the world's first sustainable tyre series for the agricultural sector. The tyre manufacturer's latest product, made with 37.5% sustainable materials, is intended to protect the environment while providing high performance and productivity for agricultural vehicles.
The Green XLR Earth Series contains a high percentage of recycled carbon black and renewable and sustainable soybean oil, which ensures the natural rubber within the tyre retains more of its original qualities for enhanced performance. Other materials, such as next-generation HD silica, aid in tyre performance.
GRI also used reclaimed rubber sourced from end-of-life tyres via a green recycling process to improve the product line's sustainability and reduce its carbon footprint.
"Innovation is in our blood." "Sustainability is in our blood," said GRI managing director Prabhash Subasinghe. "In keeping with our vision of moving humanity toward making a positive impact on the planet, we believe that this pioneering launch of one of the world's first Earth-friendly tyres will usher in a new era of high-quality agriculture tyres.”
“It will pave the way for game-changing innovations aimed at lowering carbon emissions and greenhouse gas emissions. The Green XLR Earth Series will help to preserve our planet for future generations by reaching new heights in order to positively impact climate change. It will also allow farmers to do what they do best: plant, harvest, and provide food while caring for the environment."
"Providing farmers with the ability to do what is important for their farm productivity and yield, while also presenting them with a unique opportunity to do what is best for the environment," said Dr Mahesha Ranasoma, chief executive officer of GRI. "As a sustainability-driven organization, GRI is well positioned to meet this need, as we drive green initiatives through a unique value chain represented by our iconic Green X Circle."
“We are pleased to have responded to that need and to have the ability to address it effectively with the introduction of the Green XLR Earth Series. We are confident in our ability to reaffirm our continued commitment to sustainable tyre manufacturing as well as environmentally friendly tyres for the benefit of our entire global ecosystem," he added.
