SBI General Insurance recently conducted insurance awareness programs for farmers in 50 villages across the country, including Rajasthan, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Odisha, in an attempt to make farmers aware of their financial rights.

The goal of this drive was to educate farmers on the value of a variety of crop insurance and non-crop insurance options, thus helping to brace them for natural disasters. On the occasion of Kisan Diwas, an insurance campaign was organised.

"We have noticed that farmers need to be equipped with insurance-related knowledge based on several past rural engagements, which will eventually act as a counter-cyclical measure for them," the organizers said.

They also said that Kisan Diwas is about recognizing the commitment of our farmers, and it was the perfect time to speak about the knowledge of insurance on this day to enable farmers to reduce risks resulting from farm-related losses.

With SBI's strong parentage, the firm, which was founded in 2009, has attempted to target as many people as possible to raise awareness of insurance.

The company recently collaborated with Mahindra Insurance Brokers to expand insurance penetration in Tier 2 and 3 cities through the Sajhedaari scheme.

The Sajhedaari program is a socially inclusive initiative designed to recognize, train and certify points of sales person (POSPs) for insurance distribution , thus allowing for deeper insurance penetration in the nation.

"The pandemic has brought to light a large part of our population that does not have health insurance to finance their medical expenses," said MD and CEO of SBI General Insurance PC Kandpal on the initiative. At this time, the most urgent obligation for us is to guarantee that the 'missing center' is tapped and insured.

This tie-up is also an important enabler in our plan for fulfilling our customers' insurance needs in Tier 2 and 3 cities. Kandpal continued that we are confident our partnership will play well in promoting understanding of health care and ensuring that more persons have health benefits.

Currently, three main consumer groups are served by SBI General Insurance. - the retail segment (catering to individuals and families), the corporate segment (catering to medium to large enterprises) and the SME segment; and are ready for the future to satisfy the growing needs of Indians through new age processes and services at affordable rates.
