Samunnati & Kheyti Partner to Deliver Micro Greenhouses to 1 Lakh Smallholder Farmers

Samunnati, will now provide flexible loans to small holder farmers in order to purchase ‘Khyeti Rakshak – the Greenhouse in-a-box’ developed by Khyeti, an agritech start-up.

  • Samunnati, will now provide flexible loans to small holder farmers in order to purchase ‘KhyetiRakshak – the Greenhouse in-a-box’ developed by Kheyti, an agritech start-up. 

  • This Micro Greenhouse will make vegetable farming predictable and profitable.

On Thursday, 16th July, 2021 Samunnati, an agriculture finance and & market linkage enabling company has collaborated with a Hyderabad based agritech startup-Kheyti to provide Micro Green houses – ‘Kheyti Rakshak’ to over 1 Lakh farmers. 

To start with, Kheyti has distributed these kits to 100 farmers of Telangana and Karnataka. It is estimated that Samunnati will deploy USD 150 million on this project, which will help over a lakh small scale farmers. 

Sathya Raghu cofounded Kheyti in order to provide a stable income and livelihood to farmers. In this view, they intend to partner with relevant farmer focused organizations across India and the world. 

Kheyti helps small scale farmers battle climate change through the ‘Greenhouse in-a-box’, a low cost greenhouse kit that would help farmers to grow quality vegetables even in off seasons. Samunnati will provide farmer loans to purchase the Kheyti Rakshak Kits, which are 50% less expensive, compared to other alternatives and grows 7 times more food. The green house kit consists of Modular Greenhouse and Drip system that fits in 2 % of their land. Kheyti provides greenhouses with digital services to help farmers double their incomes. 

These services include:  

  • Input Linkage (providing quality seeds & fertilizers along with greenhouse)

  • Loan Linkage (Samunnati provides flexible loans to purchase these micro greenhouse kits) 

  • Advisory & training (field officers train farmers and provide mobile based advisory)

  • Market Access (the retail partners buy the produce straight from the farm gates)

Sathya Raghu in a statement said, “By collaborating with Samunnati, we have unlocked the capital to reach 1 Lakh Farmers. Now, we intend to grow 4-5 times each year and reach 1 lakh farmers by 2025.”
