Madhya Pradesh CM, Shivraj Singh Chouhan released Rs 202.90 crore to the accounts of 1.46 lakh farmers on Thursday to compensate them for crop loss suffered by hailstorms in 26 districts of the state in January.
According to him, the 'Kisan Samman Nidhi' scheme has granted farmers a total of Rs. 1.75 lakh crore in the last two years. Farmers have received zero-interest loans, as well as other kisan-oriented programmes, according to the CM. Manish Rastogi, principal secretary to the chief minister and the revenue department, and revenue secretary Dr Sanjay Goyal were in attendance.
Following the crop loss caused by a hailstorm last month, Chouhan claimed that survey work was completed on time with the help of the revenue department, district administration, and other departments. A list of farmers in impacted villages was compiled and made public.
According to Chouhan, hailstorm and unexpected rainfall damaged crops in 1,074 villages across the state, totaling 1.34 lakh hectares.
Raisen, Vidisha, Bhind, Gwalior, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Datia, Guna, Dhar, Jhabua, Balaghat, Chhindwara, Mandla, Seoni, Betul, Harda, Satna, Sagar, Tikamgarh, Niwari, Ujjain, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Ratlam, and Khandwa are among the Priority was given to distributing relief funds to the impacted districts.
Despite the Covid pandemic, Chouhan claims that MP's agricultural sector has grown. The state government compensated farmers in the first and second waves by procuring a record amount of wheat and paddy and giving them relief. Despite difficult conditions, 1.29 crore metric tonnes of wheat were procured in the first wave.
The second wave procured 1.28 million metric tonnes of wheat and 45.85 million metric tonnes of paddy. Wheat was purchased from 17.16 lakh farmers in the state, while paddy was purchased from 6.61 lakh farmers. Farmers were paid first and foremost for the food grains they had obtained. Due to early payment of the fee during the Corona period, the farmers received immediate relief.
