The 'Pusa Agri Krishi Haat Complex,' which is spread across two acres of land and will allow farmers and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) to conduct direct marketing of their products, was inaugurated on Wednesday.
Consumers will be able to buy directly from farmers, eliminating the need for middlemen, thanks to this facility at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute.
In the massive complex, there are 60 booths, haats, and stores that will assist foster farmer entrepreneurship.
Kailash Choudhary, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, inaugurated the Pusa Agri Krishi Haat Complex after launching the Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela 2022 at the Pusa complex here, with the subject "Self-reliant Farmer with Technical Knowledge."
The ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) is hosting the three-day Krishi Mela under the direction of Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar. The occasion was presided over by Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary, DARE and Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
Union Minister of State Shri Choudhary praised the Pusa Institute's efforts on behalf of farmers and encouraged them to take full use of modern technology and scientific advancements. He noted that the government is providing farmers with facilities ranging from seed to market as part of its work on behalf of farmers. Indian agriculture is improving as a result of farmers' hard labour and scientific study.
Young people are becoming more interested in agriculture. Shri Choudhary stated that the Prime Minister has consistently raised the Ministry of Agriculture's budget, which is currently Rs 1.32 lakh crore, up from roughly 23 thousand crores seven years ago. More than half of the current budget is being paid directly into farmers' bank accounts through the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, demonstrating the government's sensitivity to farmers, while the Swaminathan Committee's recommendations have been approved by Modi's administration.
The foundation for the Kisan Haat was laid in December 2018 by then-Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh.
When fully built, the complex will include a food plaza, open-air theatre with seating for 100 people, conference hall, museum, lab, and lecture hall, as well as agricultural advisory services, seeds, and books for farmers.
