Under the Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana, government provides subsidy to install solar panels. This scheme was introduced in line with the aim of doubling farmer's income. Solar plants will now be installed on the borings with diesel engines. Farmers spending thousands of rupees on diesel will now be able to install solar power plants under the Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana by spending negligible money.
The central and state government plans to provide 80 percent subsidy to the farmers in solar power plants. Farmers will get two kilo MW solar plant after depositing only 20 percent amount.
Application status Under PM KUSUM in Uttarakhand:
According to the Minor Irrigation Department, about seven thousand farmers in the district irrigate agriculture using expensive diesel in the engine. While more than 300 farmers have electricity connections.
The farmers of Bhagwanpur have made maximum 235 applications for setting up solar power plants in the Minor Irrigation Department located in Roshanabad. Farmers say that every year a farmer spends thirty to forty thousand rupees in diesel engines for setting up solar power plant.
Setting up a power plant will help farmers save money. They can use that money for other purposes. Farmers will get benefit from this scheme of the government.

Water Pump will be available on subsidy
Along with a solar power plants to the farmers in the district, the government will also provide a water pump with 20 percent subsidy. With this, the engine installed in the farmer's field will be removed and started simultaneously by installing a pump in the boring. Old engines and pumping sets will become useless after the installation of solar plants.
