Due to the shortage of water, the crop gets damaged in the field along with the investment and hard work of the farmer. Keeping this thing in mind, the Prime Minister has launched Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana in 2015 to solve all the irrigation problems of farmers.
What is Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana?
This scheme will provide water facility to farmers for irrigation of fields. Under this, irrigation equipment will be made available to the farmers on subsidy. This will result in less water, less labour and less cost for irrigation of fields. Overall, this scheme helps farmers in arranging irrigation. The benefit of this scheme will be given to the members of Self Help Group, Trust, Cooperative Society, Incorporated Companies, Production Farmers Group and other eligible institutions.
Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) has been formulated with the vision of extending the coverage of irrigation ‘Har Khet ko Pani’ and improving water use efficiency ‘More crop per drop' in a focused manner with end to end solution on source creation, distribution, management, field application and extension activities.
75% Subsidy under PM Krishi Sinchayee Yojana
For this scheme, the central government has earmarked Rs 50 thousand crores. It is believed that under this scheme, 75 per cent subsidy will be made available to farmers by the central government on irrigation equipment. 25 per cent of its spending will be given by the state government.
