Government is all set to present the Union Budget 2021 in Parliament on 1st February 2021. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has promised a never before like Budget as the Central government looks to give a further boost to the Indian economy.
Budget 2021 and Farming Community
In an effort to increase farmers’ income by 2022 and calm down situation at Delhi borders, Modi government may increase in the amount disbursed under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN).
According to a report by DNA, Sitharaman is most likely to give more benefits to the farmers, by increasing the amount of PM-Kisan from Rs 6,000 a year to Rs 10,000 a year. Due to the ongoing Kisan Andolan against three agricultural laws, the government can make some big announcements in the interest of farmers in the upcoming budget.
To recall, farmers have told the Centre that the annual farming amount is inadequate for agriculture thus it must be increased. The budget estimate (BE) for FY 2019-20 was around Rs 1.51 lakh crore that can go up to Rs 1.54 lakh crore in FY 2021-22.
How much money is given under PM Kisan Yojana
Modi government gives Rs 6,000 per year to the farmers in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 each. The money is transferred directly in their bank accounts after every four months. Farmers said that the fund received under PM-Kisan scheme is just Rs. 500 per month, which is very low. In such a situation, for farmers with more land, Rs. 6000 is very less.
