As per latest reports, more than 8 million farmers in India might not get their next installment of Rs 2,000 under government’s ambitious Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana if their details are not corrected at the earliest.
Around 8.9 million farmers in Uttar Pradesh could miss their next PM-Kisan installment if efforts are not made to correct their Aadhaar database & bank records immediately, said a letter sent by the state government to all districts.
The letter, which was sent by Uttar Pradesh chief secretary Rajendra Kumar Tiwari asked for a campaign to be launched on a war footing till 22nd February to correct records of all the farmers.
It is important to mention UP has the highest number of beneficiary farmers (25 million) under the PM-Kisan scheme among all other states. But so far records of 22.8 million farmers have been uploaded on the central website. Moreover, only 7.73 million of these farmers have received the 4th installment under PM Kisan yojana, which was due in December 2019.
Tiwari in the letter said that “Record of 1.27 crore farmers of the state was not found correct during Aadhaar authentication and record of 71 lakh farmers have been corrected since then”. He said, “But there are around 29 lakh farmers whose names on Aadhaar card does not match with their name in the central database & 27 lakh others whose Aadhaar number is wrong on the portal.”
It must be noted that aadhaar cards have been made compulsory for farmers to get the 4th installment under PM Kisan yojana. Further, the data of another 2.5 lakh million farmers of Uttar Pradesh has been rejected by Public Financial Management System because their bank account numbers & IFSC codes were incorrect. Also districts in UP have stopped payment of PM Kisan installment to 800,000 more farmers because of difference in the names of farmers in their bank accounts & the central portal.
