The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana has benefited 12 crore farmers so far, with 2.5 crore Uttar Pradesh alone, according to BJP national vice president Radha Mohan Singh. Singh said that a total of Rs.1.60 lakh crore has been spent on the scheme so far, speaking at the Kisan Samman Samaroh held at the Deen Dayal Veterinary University here.
He added, “2.5 crore farmers also benefited in Uttar Pradesh under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana”. While congratulating 71 farmers from Mathura, the former Union minister also stated that sugarcane growers in Uttar Pradesh were paid Rs.1.43 lakh crore.
Speaking at the event, Uttar Pradesh Power Minister Srikant Sharma stated that the state government pays Rs.11,000 crore in power subsidies because farmers only pay Rs.1.25 per unit.
According to the minister, both the Central and state governments have always tried to benefit farmers. On the ongoing farmer protests, he said those who want to “misguiding” them for political benefit will fail because farmers have complete faith in the country's ‘Pradhan Sevak,' or prime minister.
