"The opening of the 8th KFC and 9th Pizza Hut restaurant has provided more opportunities to the local markets, such as chicken producers, increasing employment opportunities by creating more jobs in Tanzania," DWL said during the inauguration.

DWL, which was founded in 2015, is the leading provider of consistently high-quality food and convenience experiences and amenities in East Africa's most populous country. Dough Works has expanded rapidly in the last seven years, with 27 locations in Dar es Salaam and Arusha. DWL had 5 stores in Dar-es-Salaam prior to the opening of the outlets.

The company also intends to open additional stores, not only in Dar but also in other major Tanzanian cities, as well as to expand its portfolio of international brands.

In May 2016, Dough Works opened its first Pizza Hut location. Kibo Capital, an investor, took a significant stake in Dough Works in February 2019, as well as providing expansion capital. It had five Pizza Hut locations at the time.

In October 2019, Dough Works acquired the assets of Kuku Foods Tanzania, a KFC franchisee (Kuku Foods East Africa Holdings holds the KFC franchise for most of East Africa). Kuku Foods Tanzania had four KFC locations in Tanzania at the time.

"The co-located Pizza Hut & KFC features a large seating area, a kid's play area, for our customers, as well as a drive-thru that will cater for all our customers around Mbezi Beach, Kunduchi, Goba, Mbezi Juu, Africana, Bahari Beach, and Kilonga Wima," said Vikram Desai, Managing Director of Dough Works Limited.

"Along with customers, Pizza Hut and KFC Mbezi Beach are looking forward to integrating with and supporting the Mbezi Beach community in a special event held in collaboration with Baba Oreste Foundation led by Mauricio Robiro."

He stated that Dough Works Limited is proud of the collaboration to encourage Tanzanian restaurants to meet international quality service standards.

According to Desai, DWL hopes to continue hosting such events and collaborating with other organisations that contribute to the social upliftment and well-being of the Mbezi Beach Community.
