According to the latest data from the agriculture ministry, mango fruit production in the country is expected to rise 4.24 percent to 21.12 million tonne in the crop year 2020-21, which ends in June. During the 2019-20 crop year, mango-the king of fruits, produced 20.26 million tonne (July-June).
Mangoes from southern and western India have begun to arrive, while the season in northern states such as Uttar Pradesh will begin in mid-June. According to the ministry's first estimation of horticultural crop production for the crop year 2020-21, production of other summer fruits such as muskmelon and watermelon is expected to be marginally lower than the previous year.
This year's muskmelon production is expected to be 1.30 million tonnes, down from 1.36 million tonnes last year, while watermelon production is expected to be 3.12 million tonnes, down from 3.15 million tonnes last year.
Banana production is expected to increase to 33.75 million tonnes in 2020-21, up from 32.59 million tonnes the previous year.
The country's total fruit production is expected to rise to 103.22 million tonnes this year, up from 102 million tonnes last year.

Overall vegetable production in the country is expected to increase to 193.60 million tonnes in 2020-21, up from 188.90 million tonnes the previous year.
This year's honey production is expected to be unchanged at 1,20,000 tonnes, although spice production is expected to be marginally lower at 10.24 million tonnes.
According to the data, total horticultural crop production is expected to rise to 326.57 million tonne in the 2020-21 crop year, up from 320.76 million tonne last year.
