The Fruits Valley Farmers Producers Company and Mahatma Gandhi University have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish an avocado research centre at Adimali in Kerala. On Sunday, firm chairman Biju Parayannilam and university registrar Prakash Kumar both signed the memorandum of understanding.
The commercial production of imported fruits like avocados is essential for the sustainability of the state's agriculture sector, according to Vice-Chancellor Sabu Thomas, who spoke at the ceremony.
The commercial production of foreign fruits should be pursued by farmers, Thomas suggested, as rubber and pepper farming are currently on the decline. He declared that the research division would offer all assistance required to grow avocado fruit.
"Farmers should come forward and try to produce foreign fruits commercially because rubber and pepper farming are on the decline," Thomas said. He stated that the research department will provide all necessary assistance in producing avocado fruit.
According to Parayannilam, his business will promote the growth of avocado, rambutan, mangosteen, and passion fruit, export those fruits to other nations, and maintain a constant price for those produce.
