Shri Kailash Choudhary, Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, visited the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Barmer-II (Gudamalini).
In his address, the Minister urged the farmers to properly utilize the natural resources, especially, water for maintaining the agro-ecological sustainability.
During his visit, the Minister took part in the Kharif Kisan Mela. The Minister critically reviewed and monitored the various facilities of the KVK campus. He addressed the gathering of farmers.
Shri Choudhary stated about the various welfare schemes of the Government of India that includes vaccination for proper management of foot and mouth diseases of animals. He also emphasized upon the implementation of need-based work plan for doubling the Farmers’ Income by the Year - 2022.
Dr. O.P. Yadav, Director, CAZRI underlined the different technological options that are suitable for the arid zone of Rajasthan.
Dr. S.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Jodhpur outlined the different programmes and activities that are being implemented by the KVKs in close and active participation of farmers. He highlighted the different methodologies and approaches being followed by the KVKs for learning, applications and sustainable livelihood security.
Dr. Ishwar Singh, Director (Extension Education) outlined the major initiatives undertaken by the Agriculture University, Jodhpur to strengthen the effective functioning of KVK.
More than 1,500 farmers registered their participation in the programme.
