Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, Narendra Singh Tomar virtually inaugurated the Indus Best Mega Food Park on 3 June 2021 along with Bhupesh Baghel, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and in presence of Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries, Rameswar Teli.
Tomar said that Mega Food Park will ensure value addition, better price realization for farmers, longer shelf life for farm produce and excellent storage facility. It will also provide an alternate market for farmers in the region. The Park will give direct and indirect employment to about 5,000 people and benefit about 25,000 farmers in the CPC & PPC catchment areas.
The minister said that the modern infrastructure for food processing created at Park would benefit the processors & consumers of Chhattisgarh and adjoining regions immensely & prove to be a big boost to the growth of the food processing sector in Chhattisgarh.
Tomar added that the present government is fully committed in providing an environment, which is smooth, transparent and easy for investors who want to start an enterprise in the country and to make India a resilient food economy & the Food Factory of the World, the Centre has made Food Processing a major thrust area of ‘AtmaNirbhar Bharat’.
He thanked Chhattisgarh State Government, Chief Minister and the authorities for their efforts in developing the Indus best Mega Food Park.
Speaking on the occasion, Teli said that the state-of-the-art infrastructure as well as processing facilities developed at the Indus Best Mega Food Park will reduce wastage of agricultural produce and also ensure value addition. This will give an opportunity to the farmers, Self Help Groups (SHGs) & micro-entrepreneurs to start processing operations on plug and operate basis & create huge job opportunities in the catchment area of the Park. In addition, it will help in doubling farmers' income and in bringing more investments in the state.

In order to give boost to the growth of the Food Processing Sector in Chhattisgarh, the Ministry has approved Mega Food Park at Raipur in Chhattisgarh, which is being implemented by M/s Indus Best Mega Food Park Pvt Ltd. Indus Best Mega Food Park Pvt Ltd has been constructed in 63.8 acres of land at a project cost of Rs. 145.5 crore.
