For the development in the field of agriculture, India & Israel have signed “a three-year work program agreement”.
Bilateral Relationship
The Ministry of Agriculture said, “Taking forward the ever-growing partnership in agriculture between Israel & India, the two governments have agreed to enhance their cooperation in agriculture and signed a three-year work program agreement for development in Agriculture cooperation, while affirming the ever-growing bilateral partnership and recognizing the centrality of agriculture and water sectors in the bilateral relationship.”
INDO-ISRAEL Agricultural Project Centres of Excellence & Villages of Excellence
Both the countries are implementing the “INDO-ISRAEL Agricultural Project Centres of Excellence, and “INDO-ISRAEL Villages of Excellence”.
The Israel embassy said in a statement, “the work program will aim to grow existing Centres of Excellence, establishing new centres, increasing Centre of Excellence’s value chain. And also bring the Centres of Excellence into the self-sufficient mode, and encourage private sector companies and collaboration.”
Agriculture Sector- Priority of India
On this occasion, Agriculture Minister mentioned that the agriculture sector ‘always remains the priority of India’.
The Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said, “Due to the agrarian policies of the Government of India, there is a definite change in the lives of the farmers and agriculture sector.”
Benefit to Local Farmers
The Israel ambassador to India, Dr. Ron Malka said, “the three-year work program reflects the strength of the growing partnership between both the countries. The three-year work program will also benefit local farmers both through the ‘Villages of Excellence’ & ‘Centres of Excellence.”
