In the midst of the corona crisis, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Ltd. (IFFCO) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday. As per reports, the MoU aims at carrying out the collaborative research, test and validating the different products through ICAR Institutes and Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), disseminate technological advancements through training, awareness programmes, campaigns, field trials and demonstrations for the farmers’ benefits.
While addressing, Dr Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & DG (ICAR) emphasized that the collaborative research and extension with the reduction of fertilizer’s consumption to even 15% will be a significant contribution. Dr. Mohapatra stressed on technology validation and commercialization.
Applauding the ICAR’s tremendous achievements in the field of agriculture, Dr Udai Shanker Awasthi, Managing Director, IFFCO stressed that the MoU will help in solving the farmers’ problems.
Earlier, Dr Ashok Kumar Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR briefed about the MoU.
Shri Yogendra Kumar, Marketing Director, IFFCO stated that the MoU will help in testing, validating and disseminating the innovative products at a fast pace that will benefit the farmers.
Dr Malhotra, Commissioner (Agriculture), Government of India; Dr Randhir Singh, ADG (Agricultural Extension), ICAR; Dr. Shiv Prasad Kimothi, ADG (Coordination), ICAR; Directors of ICAR-ATARIs and representatives of the Krishi Vigyan Kendras were present during the occasion.
