The ICAR- National Center for Research on Seed Spices has taken a big decision for the farmers cultivating spice crops. Now farmers can order seeds of coriander, cumin, fennel, fenugreek, ajwain, kalonji and other seeds online from the comfort of their homes. For this, the farmers will have to place an order for these seeds through the recently launched online portal by the Research Center.
Let us tell you that the biggest challenge before the farmers cultivating spice crops is that even though these seeds are easily available in the market, they have to wait in long queues. They have to put in a lot of effort to procure the seeds and still they get the seeds of inferior quality.
Purchase Seeds from SBI’s ‘YONO Krishi APP’:
The National Research Center on Seed Spices (ICAR-National Research Center on Seed Spices) located in Ajmer, Rajasthan has started an online portal for seeding of algebraic spices. Also, this portal has also been connected to SBI's 'YONO Krishi App', from there farmers can also order seeds.
Most of the farmers have a bank account with SBI, so they can order easily. With this decision of the National Center for Research on Seed Spices, it has become easy for the farmers of other states besides Rajasthan to buy best quality spice seeds. Apart from this, NRCSS portal is being made available by the center in 10 other languages along with Hindi and English.
Seed spices account for 45 per cent of the country's total spice production by area and about 18 per cent. The main seed spices of India are coriander, cumin, fennel, fenugreek, dill, carom seeds, carom seeds, fennel seeds and cumin.
Out of the 109 spices listed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), India produces 63 spices due to its diverse agro-climatic zones. In addition, seed spices account for 45 per cent of the country's total spice production by area and about 18 per cent.
