Haryana Chief Minister Lal Manohar Khattar during the launch of a modern Karnal Cooperative Sugar Mill on Meerut road told the press that the State Government is going to increase the crop loss compensation for their farmers to Rs 15,000 per acre from Rs 12,000 per acre for 75 per cent or above loss to crops and Rs 12,500 from Rs 10,000 for a loss of 50 per cent crops.

The CM continued to state that “The Haryana Government is extending maximum compensation to farmers for the loss to crops, but for the past few years, the compensation was not hiked. So today, we have increased it”.

Khattar urged farmers to protect their crops, noting that the government had declared two days ago that farmers with up to two acres would not have to pay the insurance cost. And assured them that the government will cover half of the premium for farmers with 2-5 acres. Farmers with five acres or more will be required to pay the premium on their own. In response to the sugar mill employees' request, the CM increased the laundry allowance to Rs 100 per month from Rs 25 per month.

Haryana Chief Minister also inaugurated a 60 kilolitre per day ethanol plant at the Shahabad cooperative Sugar mill on Monday which was, constructed at a cost of Rs 99 crore. The Chief Minister also attended the occasion and officially launched the facility through online mode.

Haryana Governments efforts to provide compensation to farmers for crop loss especially when swift winds and heavy rains had recently laid waste to some farmers fields is actually an effort that will surely help small and marginal farmers tide over the disasters they have faced in the past few days.

This recent step taken by the Government was taken at a very essential time and will surely reflect well in the coming polls.
