The Haryana government announced on Sunday that it will provide farmers who grow pulse and oilseed crops in seven districts of the state with financial assistance of Rs 4,000 per acre.
The scheme will be put into effect during the Kharif 2022 growing season for farmers in the seven districts of Jhajjar, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Hisar, and Nuh in south Haryana.
According to an official spokesperson, farmers will receive monetary help under this scheme at a rate of Rs 4,000 per acre.
The spokesperson claimed that the government is continuously working to raise farmers' incomes by lowering the cost of their inputs.
The government launched this scheme to encourage the growing of pulses and oilseeds as part of its efforts to diversify its crop base.
According to the spokesperson, the state government wants to plant pulses and oilseeds on at least one lakh acres of land.
In another instance, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has provided Rs 19,718 crore in financial support to various stakeholders in Haryana for agriculture and rural development during the fiscal year 2022-23 under the Board's various initiatives.
NABARD has released Rs 24.76 crore under the Micro Irrigation Fund (MIF) for judicious use of water resources to introduce micro-irrigation facilities to farmers' crops.
NABARD has released a grant of Rs 9.79 crore for different development initiatives in the farm sector, off-farm sector, skill development, financial literacy, and job creation programs under its developmental initiatives.
To address the issue of alkaline soils, NABARD has begun work on a 1,000-hectare alkaline soil reclamation project in the Kaithal and Karnal districts.
Moreover, NABARD has been implementing several innovative farm sector projects, including a "pilot project on judicious use of pesticides for Basmati crop" for the production of export-compliant Basmati rice; "upliftment of reproductive and health status of the indigenous female calf" to improve reproductive efficiency; and "establishing goat breeding-cum-marketing center in Rewari district," according to the statement.
