Uttar Pradesh will soon receive 450 ambulances from the union government for the care of agricultural animals at home. Sanjeev Baliyan, Union Minister of State for Animal Husbandry, Dairying, and Fisheries, said this on Sunday. According to the minister, the Union government has acquired 4,500 ambulances, of which 450 will be allocated to Uttar Pradesh.
He said that sick animals would be treated at farmers' houses using these ambulances. Each ambulance would be equipped with a doctor, pharmacist, assistant, and driver to deliver immediate care and medication to the ill animal. The minister went on to say that the plan will be run jointly by the union and state governments. For surveillance, all ambulances would be linked with GPS. The Union and state governments would split the costs of wages and other items in a 60-40% ratio.
From next month, these ambulances will be deployed at the block level across the state, according to the minister.
"It will address a key issue for farmers and give prompt and effective care to sick animals," the minister said after inaugurating the 'Harit Pradesh Dugdh Utpadak Company,' which is funded by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).
Baliyan further stated that both the union and state governments are trying to promote and support cooperatives.
Japan has given the Indian government a fund of Rs 1600 crore to create cooperatives. The plan would be launched in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar first.
According to the Minister, the NDDB is offering aid to firms such as 'Harit Pradesh Dugdh Utpadak' so that farmers may get the most money from milk production.
He stated that milk will be collected from cooperative members and sent to Mother Dairy. Farmers who keep animals, according to the minister, would gain from these cooperatives. The 'Harit Pradesh Dugdh Utpaadak' Company now operates in the Western Uttar Pradesh districts of Muzaffarnagar, Bulandshahar, Shamli, Meerut, Bijnor, Hapur, and Saharanpur, collecting approximately 1.35 lakh liters of milk every day from 1500 farmers.
He said that these organizations will subsequently build up facilities at the local level to make milk products, providing farmers with additional financial benefits.
The dairy board, according to the minister, has established 19 organizations with farmer ownership in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar, one of which is the 'Harit Pradesh Dugdh Utpaadak Company.'
