To boost Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi disbursements, the Centre has decided to open enrollment through a single-registration process without involving the State Agencies.
According to officials, in accordance with the new system that will be ready in a few days, farmers will be able to register themselves on the PM-KISAN website and get the required documents uploaded (like Aadhaar card, bank details & land documents) for authentication without waiting for any state agency or officer to formally approach them.
Once the registration is done, all the documents will be examined at the Central level and then will be forwarded to state departments for final approval. After the process is completed, the fund, along with arrears, will be instantly transferred to their bank account.
Officials further said that the open registration process will help in evading bureaucratic hurdles & political reluctance on the part of few states in getting farmers enrolled for the PM-KISAN yojana.
A senior official said, “In some states such as West Bengal, there are around 7 million farmers who are eligible for PM-KISAN but are not able to get their dues as the state agencies are not willing to enroll them. Now this process will help in bypassing all such difficulties”.
The official added that in some other states new farmers were not able to enroll for the minimum income support scheme because the state machinery had its own limitations.
The government has asked state governments as well as banks to accelerate demographic Aadhaar authentication to ensure that it is seeded with the bank accounts.
It is important to mention that an Aadhaar-seeded bank account is a requisite to get the 3rd instalment of Rs 2,000 under the PM-KISAN scheme that has to be paid by November.
How to register for PM-Kisan
Farmers who wish to register themselves for PM-Kisan scheme will have to login to the official website i.e. www.pmkisan.gov.in
At the homepage you will have to look for a new link called ‘farmers corner’ (recently made by the government). Through this link, farmers will be able to register or monitor the status of their application or even update their Aadhaar card number. Read the instructions carefully and enroll yourself.
In states like Uttar Pradesh, there was not even a single farmer who was paid the 3rd instalment till some time ago. Regarding this, the officials said the Centre was starting a facility of online rectification of Aadhaar & bank account details for the farmers.
According to available data, the 1st instalment of Rs 2,000 has so far been paid to around 64.5 million beneficiaries while the 2nd instalment of Rs 2,000 has been given to 34.4 million beneficiaries. And the 3rd instalment has been paid to just 9.1 million farmer families.
