Farmers of Chhattisgarh will get Rs. 5700 crores of Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyaya Yojana in four installments like last year. The first installment of justice will be sent to the farmers' account on May 21. This decision was taken in a virtual meeting of the cabinet sub-committee chaired by Agriculture and Water Resources Minister Ravindra Choubey. In the sub-committee, the draft to add some more crops to the justice plan is also discussed.
Choubey told the media that they picked the date because it was former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's death anniversary. This state government's flagship scheme is considered as a confidence booster for farmers, and it has boosted the farming and farm sector in Chhattisgarh.
From December 1, 2020 to February 15, this year, the scheme procured a whopping 92 lakh tonnes of paddy from farmers. Farmers are granted a financial assistance of Rs 10,000 per acre under the scheme, in addition to the minimum support price set by the Union government.
It was decided in the meeting that in the year Kharif season 2021, farmers cultivating paddy, sugarcane, maize as well as farmers cultivating pulses, oilseeds, kodo-kutki, ragi, ramatil etc. in this scheme Will be benefited Also, the proposal to give them input support for cultivation of Kharif crops will be prepared by the Agriculture Department, which will be placed before the Cabinet soon.
