UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has set a Rs 10 lakh crore investment target for the GIS 2023. These investment proposals will create lakhs of new job opportunities in the state. To achieve this goal, CM Yogi has dispatched separate teams of his ministers and officers to various countries worldwide to hold roadshows and one-on-one meetings with investors.
In Belgium, a delegation led by Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta, and Public Works (PWD) Minister Jitin Prasad signed an agreement with Gemini Corporation worth Rs 200 crore," according to the statement.
The Industrial Development Minister himself tweeted, "An MoU was signed with Gemini Corporation, which has been recycling 2 billion kgs of plastic, paper, tyres, metal, and wood annually since 1989, to set up a recycling plant with a capacity of 300 tonnes of plastic per day in Varanasi at Rs 200 crore," according to the statement.
On Wednesday, the delegation met with the management of IKEA, a Swedish furniture and home appliance company, and embassy officials in Stockholm. Jan Christensen, the company's Global Expansion Head, expressed a desire to invest Rs 4,000 crore. "With this investment, the company plans to open retail stores and luxury malls in Uttar Pradesh. Apart from the company's unit that will be established in Noida, their future investment plans were discussed on this occasion," according to the statement. The delegation met with Flanders Secretary General Julie Benens, who discussed Belgian business investment in the state.
In coordination with Jal Nigam and other departments, the delegation also visited the campus of the Swedish Environmental Research Institute IVL and discussed cooperation for a successful transition to a sustainable environment in the state through solid waste management and water treatment. In the UAE, a delegation led by MSME Minister Rakesh Sachan received 25 letters of intent totaling Rs 20,340 crore. Through this investment, 27,000 new employment opportunities will be created in the state.
The delegation also met with DP World representatives. Representatives from DP World agreed to invest in a joint venture in the logistics and cargo sector in Dadri, Uttar Pradesh," according to the statement. Earlier, this delegation met with Yusuf Ali, Lulu International Group Chairman & other entrepreneurs and invited them to the Global Investors Summit. In Montreal, a delegation led by Vidhan Sabha Speaker Satish Mahana and Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister Dharampal Singh met with Hilmi Qureshi, Chief Mentor and Co-Founder of JMQ Global.
Investment opportunities and plans were also discussed at this roundtable meeting. Hilmi Qureshi expressed her desire to invest in health technology on this occasion. "The delegation also discussed partnership opportunities with the company in areas such as health, AI, IT, and ITES technology," according to the statement. The delegation also met with CDPQ Director Eric Krypton. He expressed a desire to invest in renewable energy and highway infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh. The delegation also discussed potential areas of collaboration, such as pension funds and finance.
Rajesh Sharma, Fan Camp Exploration's CEO and CIO, was also met by the delegation. Rajesh Sharma, from Uttar Pradesh, spoke about investment in mineral exploration and energy conservation. Bombardier's Vice President of Government Affairs, Pierre Sean Yun, expressed a desire to invest in defence and aerospace. In contrast, Jim Integrated Shipping Service Co's President, Steve M Fielder, expressed a desire to invest in logistics and supply.
The delegation met with investors in Vancouver, including Pankaj Agarwal, Founder and MD of Optimus Information Inc. They talked about collaborations in data centres, healthcare, food processing, information technology, information technology-enabled services (ITES), defence, and aerospace.
Meanwhile, an agreement was signed between Invest UP and the Canada India Global Forum to promote GIS 2023. Similarly, an agreement was reached with the Indo-Canada Ottawa Business Chamber. It will send a delegation of investors to the summit. In New York, USA, the delegation led by Finance Minister Suresh Khanna and former minister Siddharth Nath Singh met Avi Basu, Founder and CEO of WingSure.
At this meeting, a detailed discussion on the use of technology in agriculture was held. A separate roadshow was held in Seoul, South Korea, led by Technical Education Minister Ashish Patel and Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh.
