"By 2040, India will be able to produce 100 per cent organic food." "It would surely be possible to transform India into an organic country with political will and collective work," remarked Pawan Chamling, former Chief Minister of Sikkim, at the opening of the third 'Global Organic Expo 2022' at the Indian Agriculture Research Institute, Pusa Road, New Delhi.
'Profitability for Humanity' was the theme. During the opening session, Chamling affirmed Sikkim's status as India's first organic state and complimented Prime Minister Narendra Modi for championing the organic agenda on a national level and turning it into a national programme.
"On January 18, 2016, Sikkim was recognised as the world's first 100 per cent organic state by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The first stage was to approve a resolution in the Sikkim Legislative Assembly on February 24, 2003, declaring Sikkim a fully organic state. We passed the historic resolution in the State Assembly because agriculture is a state subject. "On December 31, 2015, we successfully transformed Sikkim into a completely organic state after 12 years of hard labour and perseverance," Chamling stated.
BK Shivani, a motivational speaker who was also present, stated that there was less content consumption two-three decades ago. What we eat has a direct impact on our mental health. What we watch, read, and listen to affects our emotional diet.
Manoj Mishra, director-global projects, iconic exhibitions private limited, agreed that the primary goal of this expo is 'Profitability for Humanity,' since health is more vital for future generations because people are eating tainted food due to ignorance. We hope to raise public awareness about the benefits of organic foods and encourage farmers to practise organic farming across the country through this exhibition."
"There is a need to promote natural farming in the country," Dr Bharat Pathak, National Convenor Ganga Vichar Manch, Namami Gange, stated. "Rainwater collecting is required, and water conservation promotion is also necessary for natural farming. The Global Organic Expo emphasised the importance of organic farming, which is good not only for people's health but also for the health of the earth as a whole."
"The Global Organic Expo - 2022 is the first time in Delhi that the business community, traders, government organisations, and chambers of commerce have come together to make doing business easier."
