Pradhan Mantri Sinchai Yojana that was launched in the year 2015 has now been extended for two years. The central government has allocated Rs 50,000 crore for this scheme so that the farmers do not face irrigation problems.
Under PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana, 80% subsidy is provided to general farmers, while small and micro farmers are given subsidy up to 90%.
Objective of PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana
The objective of the scheme is to attract investment in an irrigation system in the country, develop & expand cultivable land, increase the use of farm water to reduce wastage of water, introduce water-saving techniques & precision irrigation, and increase the crop per drop by applying.
Who Can Take Advantage of Irrigation Scheme?
To take advantage of this scheme, farmers should have cultivable land. The eligible beneficiaries of this scheme will be farmers of all sections of the country.

Under PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana, benefits will be provided to the members of Self Help Groups, Trusts, Co-operative Societies, Incorporated Companies, Members of Producer Farmers' Groups & members of other eligible institutions.

The benefits of this scheme will be available to those institutions & beneficiaries who cultivate that land under the Lease Agreement for a minimum of 7 years. This eligibility can also be achieved through contract farming.
How farmers can get subsidy under PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana?
It is to be noted that, the principle of first come first serve is implemented in this scheme. Interestingly, farmers can apply online for this. After purchasing the sprinkler pipe from the registered firm, the farmers need to submit the application along with the bill to the office. Once, the application is approved, farmers are provided 80 - 90% subsidy on the cost.
