A farmers' market was organized on Sunday at the central park in Noida's Sector 47, complete with colourful floral decor and umbrellas. The market, which was also accompanied by a small flower exhibition to showcase some locals' gardening expertise, was organized by a residents' association called the Green Crusaders.
At the market, organic products from small-scale local farmers were sold alongside culinary booths put up by home chefs. The farmers' market debuted in October 2018 and lasted until February 2019. The market's second edition took place between October 2019 and February 2020.
However, due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the second leg had to be cut short. Since then, the market has been suspended for two years, but residents have now reopened it because Covid-19 cases are on the decline and limits have been relaxed.
Sector 47 attracts people from all around Noida since it is easily accessible from other areas. The location was surrounded by lovely green trees and was near to a large park. Over 100 vendors are affiliated with Green Crusaders, and about 30 of them have set up shop at the market.
"Our goal is to promote small-scale organic farming while also providing residents with a place to gather on Sundays." "People get the want to walk out of their homes after the Covid-19 epidemic in 2020, visit open areas where they can socialize and shop for their homes, albeit with correct Covid-19 protocols in place," said Devyani Vohra, a resident of Sector 47 and member of the Green Crusaders group.
Visitors to the market were spoiled for choice, with vegetables and fruits, breads, pastries, milk, ghee, butter, seafood, hydroponic and seasonal plants, coffee and unusual teas, as well as self-care products on show.
Residents of Sector 47 have become keen gardeners throughout the lockdowns since 2020, cultivating their own vegetables as well as lovely flowers and plants. A modest flower exhibition was also conducted at the market to encourage this hobby, with individuals displaying their love of gardening.
