Farmers Friendly Booklet’ For Agriculture Schemes & Programmes In English Released

Farmers’ Friendly Booklet containing details of schemes and programmes of Agriculture and allied departments in English language was today released.

Jammu: K. K. Sharma, Director Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare, Jammu, released a Farmers' Friendly Booklet at Baba Jitto, Kissan Kendra, Talab Tillo, including data of schemes and programmes of Agriculture and associated departments in English language.

The booklet was published in front of a multitude of farmers, including Joint Director Agriculture (Inputs), A. S. Reen, Joint Director (Extension), Subash Chander Sharma, Joint Director (Apiculture & Mushroom), Iqbal Singh, Deputy Director of Agriculture (Trainings), Deepak Kumar, and others.

The Director stated that the efforts of the Directorate of Agriculture will have far-reaching implications and will assist farmers in comprehending the different farmer welfare initiatives of the Government of India. Understanding of the programmes by farmers and implementing agencies will aid in maintaining checks and balances, he added.

The Booklet, according to the Director, includes useful information on cost standards and patterns of assistance under several Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) of the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Floriculture, and Fisheries.

The booklet has already been released in Hindi and will shortly be translated into Urdu.

It was previously stated that the book will help farmers understand the guidelines, norms, and patterns of assistance available through Centrally Sponsored Schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY), Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY), National Food Security Mission (NFSM), Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH).

Dr. Narender Ponotra (SKUAST-J), Dr. A P Roy (SKUAST-J), Dr. S K Singh (SKUAST-J), and Dr. Sandeep Dogra, SCA led the technical session of the training programme (I&P). 

The technical session addressed a wide range of issues, including the future of organic farming, the breadth of zero-budget natural farming, non-chemical plant pest, and disease control, and the idea and practices of precision irrigation.

The seminar concluded with farmer comments and a valedictory session.
