Dilip Rath, NDDB Chairman Elected to the Board of International Dairy Federation

Chairman of National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) , Dilip Rath was elected to the International Dairy Federation Board during the General Assembly of IDF on 2 November 2020.

Dilip Rath, Chairman of National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) was unanimously elected to the International Dairy Federation Board during the General Assembly of IDF.  Rath has been associated with the International Dairy Federation for the past ten years as Member Secretary of Indian National Committee & as a member of the Standing Committee on Dairy Policy & Economics.

It is important to mention that Rath has played the main role in signing the Dairy Declaration at the IDF World Dairy Summit in Rotterdam in October 2016 between FAO & IDF. The Declaration recognizes the role as well as contribution of dairy sector to the achievement of key Sustainable Development Goals like ending hunger and poverty & protecting the environment.  

The IDF Indian National Committee represented by the Secretary, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India and NDDB Chairman signed the Indian Dairy Sector’s endorsement to meet UN Sustainable Development Goals with the President & Director General of International Dairy Federation at IDF’s World Dairy Summit in 2019 at Istanbul.  

Rath said, “I see my election to the IDF Board as an opportunity to bring along valuable insights from the Indian dairy experience & foster complementarities & synergies between dairying nations. It is a privilege for me to represent the world’s largest milk producing country and contribute to promoting Sustainable Goals of dairying & also meet the UN Sustainable Development Goals. I look forward to furthering IDF Board’s mandate”.

It must be noted that India will host the first post Coronavirus IDF World Dairy Summit 2022 in New Delhi in which more than 1000 participants including academicians, experts, dairy professionals are expected to take part from about 55 countries.
