The first flush Darjeeling tea of the new season has set a new record price of Rs 23,000 per kg. Golden Tips, a well-known tea brand, obtained and purchased these new season spring teas from Goodricke Group- The Badamtam Tea Estate.
Golden Tips paid Rs 23,000 per kg for organic white tea and Rs 21,000 per kg for moonlight tea, the highest prices of the season so far. Golden Tips purchased ten kilogrammes of organic white tea and five kilogrammes of Goodricke Group moonlight tea.
These teas were picked just a few days ago from an estate at an elevation of around 4,500 feet above sea level, giving them a distinct character and quality.
The first budding is the harvesting of two new leaves and a bud in the plant's early spring growth, which can occur as early as February and as late as April. These early leaves are typically more delicate and tender, making them lighter, floral, fresh, energetic, and astringent in flavour.
