The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will hold virtual Tea Conclave from September 1 to November 30, the first of its kind Digital Conference and exhibition of Tea varieties. The products related to the Tea industry will be exhibited to the buyer and sell over a period of 90 days.
In the past eight conferences were held by the CII of which five were held in Siliguri and two in Guwahati. The tag line of the conclave is Chai Piyo Swasth Raho.
The COVID-19 pandemic has moved business operations, farmer training sessions, seed, fertilizer sales online to help farmers continue their sowing amid the lockdown.
“The tea conclave will be a virtual one and will have virtual stalls similar to regular exhibitions. Producers and manufacturers will be able to display their products in the stalls. Buyers and tea connoisseurs can visit the stalls,” Bidyananda Barkakoty, Chairman, CII North East Tea Panel.
The conclave will be attended by buyers-sellers, starts-ups who want to showcase their products, innovators can show their newly developed products, B2C and B2B.
The upcoming digital conclave will be attended by Central and State Government policymakers, tea retailers & tea cafes, tea producers, small tea growers, tea buyers & traders, Tea Board officials, tea implements manufacturers tea wholesalers, tea machinery manufacturers, any products related to tea, tea research organizations, tea auction organisers, educational institutes, tea associations, tea customers, banks and financial institutions.
Overseas delegates will also be invited to be part of the conclave. The decision comes between the losses and lack of labor crises became the main issue for farmers. Monsoon rains which resulted in over rains in some places also affected the output.
Tea export from India has fallen in the year 2019 despite being the biggest exporter in the world. This push will help Tea farmers to sell their products effectively in between the pandemic which halted the movement of goods across the country.
