Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Kailash Chaudhary said that it is very important to have authentic and quality seeds for good crop production. Therefore, keeping this in mind, the Central Government has launched Beej Gram Yojana for the benefit of farmers. Under this scheme, improved varieties of seeds are provided to the farmers by the Centre.
In response to a question on the availability and subsidy on fertilizers, Choudhary said that despite a huge rise in the DAP prices, the central government had continuously provided subsidy on DAP to the farmers. He said not only this but the Government had also increased the subsidy on DAP fertilizers from Rs 1212 to Rs 1662 per bag. This shows the commitment towards farmers of the central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Talking about the facilities provided to farmers by the central government, the Minister said that under the leadership of PM Modi and due to the hard work of farmers, today the production of horticultural crops in the country has surpassed the production of other crops.
Under the 'Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture' i.e. MIDH scheme, the Ministry of Agriculture has been working continuously since 2014-15 to realize the potential of the horticulture sector.
Choudhary said that this horticulture mission has promoted the best practices used in the fields. This has greatly improved the productivity and quality of production.
It has not only made India self-reliant in the horticulture sector but has also contributed significantly in achieving goals like hunger, good health, poverty alleviation, and gender equality.
