Budget 2021-22: While the upcoming budget will be presented by Finance Minister on February 1 this year, all eyes will be set on what the government has for the agriculture sector and its new policies and schemes for Indian economy.
It is also believed that the government has already rolled out a slew of measures for the farm sector and thus no major decision can be taken.
The farmer’s agitation has entered into nearly two months and thousands of farmers mainly from the state of Punjab are still fighting for their rights staying firm on their demand of repealing contentious farm laws. Moreover, situation has worsened after Republic Day clash.
However, amid this turmoil, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present Union Budget 2021 on February 1. This budget will be significant for farm and agri sector as the farmers across the state and mainly Punjabi farmers are throwing their anger against the central government’s decision. So, it is hoped that this budget might end the disappointment of farmers and bring back their smile.
It is expected that in the Budget 2021, the Modi government can give a gift to the farmers, which may be linked to the PM Kusum Yojana.
What is expected from the budget?
As per sources, PM Kusum Scheme can be expanded in the upcoming budget. As per sources, incentives for farmers can also be announced in this budget. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also expanded the scheme in 2020. The Renewable Ministry has recommended a 20-25 percent increase in the budget of the PM-Kusum scheme. Not only this, incentives can also be announced for the farmers in the budget.
What is PM Kusum Yojana?
Under the PM Kusum scheme, solar panels are provided to the farmers on subsidies from which they can make electricity. Farmers are also given the facility that by using the electricity they need, they can earn money by selling the remaining electricity.
How many farmers have benefited?
Solar pumps have been provided to about 20 lakh farmers under PM Kusum Yojana. With the help of these pumps, farmers can irrigate their fields when there is no rain or less.
When Did This Scheme Start?
PM Kusum Yojana was announced by the Central Government in the General Budget 2018-19. The Kusum scheme was announced by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. Farmers are benefiting greatly from this scheme. For this reason, the government is also continuously expanding it, so that it can reach more and more farmers. As per the sources of Ministry of Renewable Energy, the government can also bring an incentive scheme for the farmers.
