BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya said on Friday the will ensure that after voting for power in West Bengal, every state farmer receives Rs. 18,000 in arrears under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.
The statement of Vijayvargiya, in charge of the BJP's West Bengal, came days after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee suggested that she was willing to introduce the central system in the state, in which farmers earn Rs 6,000 per year in three equal instalments.
The move of Trinamool Congress chief, made months before the assembly polls, is being seen as an attempt to blunt the BJP's allegation that her party is preventing farmers of West Bengal from getting benefits of the scheme.
'After the Mamata Banerjee government goes and the BJP government comes to power, Bengal farmers will get their due,' Vijayvargiya said, addressing a party rally at Nandigram in the Purba Medinipur district.
Each of them will be paid Rs 18,000 in arrears, the sum already transferred to farmers' bank accounts in the rest of the country, he added.
The mafia controls the coal and sand mining of the state and engages in smuggling cattle, he argued, adding that the BJP will drive out of the state those engaged in such rackets.
BJP President Dilip Ghosh of West Bengal, who also addressed the rally, describing the TMC as a virus, said that his own party is the solution to the ruling party's leaving the state after May.
The assembly election in the state is expected in April-May.
Alleging that in West Bengal, the BJP already has 1.5 lakh supporters; Ghosh said that nearly 29,000 cases were brought against BJP workers in the district to threaten them.
Lacked the prior Left Front and the new TMC dispensation. He said the BJP would ensure that the state marches forward on the road of progress.
Ghosh claimed that after cyclone Amphan, the money intended for relief was stolen and misused by TMC staff and politicians.
Since the TMC came to power, the parivartan (change) people had wished for had become a mirage and now there is a need for another parivartan, he said. TMC ministers and leaders are leaving the party because, as the BJP state president said, they are not getting proper respect and position.
Mamata Banerjee is now accusing us of her party breaking down. What had she done to the other parties in the state earlier? He asked, arguing that the TMC had made many Legislative MLAs and leftist groups join the party.
Keeping that the anti-land acquisition drive of the TMC at Singur, which led to the relocation of Tata Motors' Nano car plant to Gujarat, was "wrong" BJP national vice president Mukul Roy said that after the company was forced to leave, West Bengal did not have any industry.
We'll urge the prime minister to get the Tatas back in Singur if we win the polls, Roy says. Suvendu Adhikari, who recently resigned as Nandigram's TMC MLA and joined the BJP, alleged that to create confusion and disruption, stones were thrown during the conference.
