To make Namsai the highest honey producing district, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein urged farmers to come out and start beekeeping on a huge scale.
Mein said the prize would be handed to the largest honey producing SHG at the valedictory event of a weeklong training session on 'Pilot project for honey cluster for beekeepers of Namsai district' here on Friday.
The DCM promised to assist beekeepers in marketing their products through farmer producer cooperatives.
He stated that the state government holds an ePragati meeting every month at the state level to monitor the implementation of various schemes across the state, and he requested that the district administrations hold similar monthly review meetings and monitor the implementation of central and state-sponsored schemes.
R.K Sharma, the deputy commissioner, and J. Rime, the textile and handicraft assistant director, also spoke at the event.
The training was co-organized by the departments of sericulture and horticulture, as well as the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission, with the Namsai district government and the National Bee Board providing assistance.
It was attended by 96 SHG members from Namsai, Lekang, and Chongkham.
Previously, Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) Governor of Arunachal Pradesh has urged the agricultural community, progressive farmers, entrepreneurs, and youth to explore different ways and means to harness the apiculture potential in their localities.
He said that Arunachal Pradesh, having the greatest area in North Eastern India, has enormous potential for apiculture due to its extensive green cover, plentiful flowers in the natural surroundings, and pure climate. Because the state government is encouraging this industry, he suggests that individuals take up honey beekeeping in large numbers to improve their economic situation.
Beekeeping, according to the Governor, aids in the creation of jobs, the enhancement of nutritional security, and the preservation of biodiversity. He claims that increasing the number of bee colonies will raise overall agricultural and horticultural output in the state, as well as increase the production of bee-related products.
