APEDA in collaboration with the Indian embassy, Seoul & Indian Chamber of Commerce in Korea (ICCK) had organised a Virtual Buyer Seller Meet (VBSM) with the aim to boost mangoes exports to South Korea.
Senior officials from APEDA, Embassy of India, ICCK, exporters from India & importers from South Korea took part in the VBSM held on 20 May 2021.
Earlier this month, India had shipped a consignment of 2.5 Metric Tonne (MTs) of Geographical Indication (GI) certified Banganapalli along with other variety Survarnarekha mangoes sourced from farmers in Krishna and Chittor districts of Andhra Pradesh.
The mangoes sent to South Korea, were treated, cleaned and shipped from the APEDA assisted & registered packhouse and vapor heat treatment facility located at Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh & exported by IFFCO Kisan SEZ (IKSEZ).
This was the first export consignment sent by IKSEZ, a subsidiary of IFFCO, a multi-state cooperative having a membership of 36,000 societies.
There are chances of more exports of mangoes to South Korea this season. It must be noted that IFFCO Kisan SEZ has a deal with Meejaim, South Korea for supplying 66 MTs of mango this season. In addition, Andhra Pradesh horticulture department has also collaborated in this endeavour.
