Here comes a good news for farmers. The state government has decided to supply free power for at least nine hours to 81% of feeders of the farming sector during the Kharif season and would increase it to 100% for the next Rabi season.
This was revealed in a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Owing to issues relating to Coronavirus pandemic and its effect on the State power sector, the issue of supply of free electricity to cultivators for 9 hours has been restricted to 81 per cent.
State Power Secretary N Srikanth, told that in the previous Kharif season, power was supplied to only 58% of the feeders during the day time. But at present, Andhra Pradesh is ready to provide the power for nine hours to 81% of the feeders.
Reddy was however keen that there must be 100 per cent supply. The Chief Minister ordered the officials to supply free power to 100% feeders from the next Rabi season.
For this, he sought details on the progress of the proposed 10,000 mega watt capacity solar power plant. Meanwhile officials told him that the work will start by month-end.
