AITAM Students Develop Agribot to Reduce Agricultural Expenses

According to the students, many farmers overuse fertilisers and pesticides because they don't know the exact soil condition and lack proper guidance from experts in rural areas. The students L. Prameela, M. Niharika, N. Vivekavardhini, and S. Bhargav created 'Agribot,' a robot for optimal technology utilisation in agriculture, using cloud computing and edge technology.

Students at the Aditya Institute of Technology and Management (AITAM)-Tekkali in the Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh believe that robots will help farmers use fertilizers and pesticides based on the condition of the soil. The students L. Prameela, M. Niharika, N. Vivekavardhini, and S. Bhargav created 'Agribot,' a robot for optimal technology utilization in agriculture, using cloud computing and edge technology.

According to the students, many farmers overuse fertilizers and pesticides because they don't know the exact soil condition and lack proper guidance from experts in rural areas. Here, Agbot plays a crucial role. An agbot, also known as an Agribot, is a self-driving robot used in agriculture to increase efficiency and reduce reliance on manual labour.

AITAM Director V.V. Nagesara Rao told the media here on Saturday that four final-year ECE students could receive special recognition from several professors from southeast Asian countries, including the Philippines, at the TENSYMP-2022 symposium and exhibition, which was recently held at the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay.

He congratulated the students on their innovative ideas and the development of a robot that would assist farmers in reaping the benefits of technology. "We will provide funding to students for additional research because farmers need to know the exact soil condition, minerals, moisture, and other details." Nageswara Rao advised students to seek support from the Department of Science and Technology and other major institutions for their next level of research and study.

Role of Technology in Agriculture:

Technology plays an important role in farming and agricultural practices, and the scope has expanded with the introduction of digital technology. Agriculture innovation is driving an evolution in agricultural practices, reducing losses and increasing efficiency. Farmers are benefiting from this. The use of digital and analytic tools is driving continuous improvement in agriculture, and the trend is here to stay, resulting in higher crop yields and helping farmers earn more money.

Robotics, precision agriculture, artificial intelligence, blockchain technology, and other emerging technologies are among them. Some agricultural technological advancements include Improved productivity from the mechanization of agriculture and Climate/ weather prediction through artificial intelligence.
