Finding innovative solutions is becoming more and more necessary as the global agriculture sector deals with pressing problems including food scarcity, climate change, and environmental sustainability. In response to these pressing issues, AGRITECHNICA ASIA & HORTI ASIA 2024 are poised to showcase groundbreaking technologies and solutions aimed at revolutionizing farming practices and ensuring food security. Organized by the German Agricultural Society, DLG International, and VNU Asia Pacific, and officially co-hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand, AGRITECHNICA ASIA & HORTI ASIA will bring together over 300 exhibitors from 28 countries. This diverse and global participation highlights the events' significance as major hubs of agricultural and horticultural innovation in Asia.

Attendees, including large-scale farmers, cooperatives, and dealers from the region, will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of equipment and solutions from leading agricultural manufacturers. Among the exhibitors are industry giants such as AGCO, Case New Holland, John Deere, and Netafim, offering technological solutions tailored to address the unique challenges faced by Asian agriculture, from enhancing crop yields to optimizing water and resource management.

The significance of AGRITECHNICA ASIA & HORTI ASIA extends beyond mere technological showcases. This year's events will also highlight the importance of sustainable practices and smart farming technologies in fostering environmental conservation and improving food systems. By promoting discussions on themes like 'Co-Creation and Sustainable Networks,' the trade fairs aim to facilitate knowledge exchange among industry leaders from around the world, contributing to the region's agricultural development.

Katharina Staske, Managing Director of DLG Asia Pacific, emphasized the scale and diversity of this year's trade fairs, featuring leading manufacturers from various sectors along the crop production value chain. The events have already attracted visitors from 62 countries, further establishing AGRITECHNICA ASIA & HORTI ASIA as international hubs for sustainable agriculture in Asia.

The conference program will delve into pressing issues such as air pollution mitigation, carbon neutrality, and the adoption of smart farming solutions. Led by esteemed organizations like the Thailand Society of Sugar Cane Technologists and the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), these discussions will provide valuable insights into tackling agricultural challenges sustainably.

Panadda Kongma, Vice President of Business for VNU Asia Pacific, expressed enthusiasm about the transformative potential of the upcoming events. With Horti Asia 2024 featuring over 300 companies and esteemed partners such as the Netherlands Embassy and the Horticultural Science Society of Thailand, the trade fairs promise to be dynamic platforms for global knowledge exchange.

Dr. Vanida Khumnirdpetch, Director of the Bureau of Foreign Agricultural Affairs at the Thai Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, highlighted the need for innovative ideas and collaboration to tackle issues like climate change and food security, aligning with the events' theme of 'Co-creation and Sustainable Networks.'

International cooperation plays a crucial role in ensuring food security in the region. Dr. Gijs Theunissen, Agricultural Counsellor at the Embassy of the Netherlands in Thailand, highlighted the Thai-Dutch Session at Horti Asia 2024, aimed at fostering an exchange of innovative agricultural practices to promote sustainable food security.

The participation of the Thai and German Ministries of Agriculture further underscores the collaborative efforts to enhance agricultural sustainability. Karsten Ziebell, Team Leader of the German-Thai Cooperation Project on Innovation Networks, emphasized the importance of sustainable technologies in transforming the Thai agricultural sector.

Highlights of Agritechnica Asia and Horti Asia include:

  • Innovation Showcases: Featuring product launches and innovations from 300 exhibitors, including industry leaders like Netafim, Klasmaan-Deilmann, Dummen Orange, John Deere, Mahindra & Mahindra, AGCO, CNH, and CLAAS.

  • Business Matching: With a special focus on facilitating business between manufacturers and importers, including targeted sessions on market entry in the Philippines or Thailand.

  • Knowledge Transfer: Collaborations with the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives to offer more than 1,000 Thai farmers insights from global agricultural experts through guided tours of the fair.
