Accelerating Investments in Climate Smart Agriculture- GAC 19

Climate change, the most pressing global issue, affects ecosystems, economic structures and the livelihoods dependent on them, thus threatening global food security. Given agriculture is the most climate-vulnerable sector, food production will have to be increased in the face of increased climate variability, while ameliorating nutritional outcomes and curtailing the carbon cost of farming and its contribution to greenhouse gas emissions. The most crucial response to these recognized needs has been the development of climate-smart agriculture (CSA). CSA aims to achieve sustainable productivity and ensure adaptation and mitigation by reorienting farming systems with practices and technologies that are customized and made suitable based on different agro-ecological zones, resource endowment, cultural preferences, institutions and policies.

In this context, Global Agri Connect (GAC), a flagship conference of NSFI, has emerged as a knowledge exchange platform, bringing multiple principal stakeholders together to deliberate on scaling up emerging CSA interventions and the corresponding investments. GAC was envisioned by NSFI in 2011, this year being its 8th edition. GAC aims to create a lasting positive impact on the agriculture ecosystems of developing countries by attempting bringing together the best practices and successful implementation models, and identifying various factors that can enable scaling up.

The previous editions of GAC have focussed on technological innovations, farm prosperity and planning for transformational changes in agriculture. This year, we aim to take the dialogue further by bringing together principal stakeholders from across the globe. GAC19 offers its participants an excellent opportunity to showcase ground-level realities and experiences and network with domain-experts in research, implementation and financial resources. The Conference will have representatives from various public and private sectors including policy makers, international speakers and nationally acclaimed agri-institutions.

It enables over 50+ international participants and 300+ national participants to deliberate upon the vagaries of the climate crisis and work together towards developing and delivering innovative solutions for creating sustainable, climate-positive impacts on agriculture. In addition to being a knowledge-sharing platform, GAC 19 provides attendees the great opportunity to meet and interact with novelties and domain-experts in research, implementation and financial services. It is a sphere where participants can have one-on-one formal discussions, dealings and tête-à-têtes with the major players in the industry. Participants can network better, broaden their connections, pitch fresh ideas and look for new business partners.
