The terms food web and food chain may appear to be synonymous, but they are not. A food web depicts the various ways these organisms are interconnected, whereas a food chain runs from top to bottom: hawk eats snake eats frog eats grasshopper eats grass. The purpose of the Food Web is to demonstrate how all of these organisms interact with one another.
